The Cult of Beauty

Last night four of us very lucky ladies from JWT got to go along to the NMA Gorgeous event in the V&A. With fashion always on the brain and food and wine being a very close second we couldn’t wait to the end of work to go down and see what was in store for us. When we got to the V&A we were greeted with Champagne and canapés in the John Madejski Garden. Is this dinner? We weren’t sure so thought trying everything was probably best. Feeling well fed and watered we ventured round to the exhibition: The Cult of Beauty. Walking down the main part of the museum after hours was amazing hoping it would all suddenly turn into Night at the Museum (without the dinosaur of course) we got to the exhibition. Leaving our Champagne at the door we prepared ourselves to come out feeling cultured and ever hopefully more intelligent! We weren’t disappointed the exhibition featured art and design showing the development of the Aesthetic Movement from 1860s to the 1890s. With beautiful designs from the always in style William Morris and something for the romantics with Dante Gabriel Rossetti showing off his stuff we were loving it. We didn’t get long to look around but then there were more important things to be done… dinner was served. Sitting in the awesome entrance to the V&A with the fabulous backdrop of the Medieval and Renaissance sculptures (never had dinner with a ton of naked stone men before but was pretty damn cool) we tucked into pretty much everything! Guest speakers in the fashion world gave us beauty tips and interesting insights into current fashion and how it is perceived. Sadly this lasted about 15 minutes as I could have listen for hours! Then came pudding. Like a shoe sale in Selfridges it was a fight to the desserts not that there weren’t enough for 3rds. Delicious!

Top Beauty tips from the greats:

1. Always wear suntan lotion, nothing ages you more than the sun!

2. Unfortunately the more expensive clothes always look better! (I still think the high street rocks, but that’s probably cause their budget is a little bigger than mine!!!)

3. Add a little moisturiser to your fake tan to make it more gradual and so you don’t go Only Way Is Essex!

4. Best fake tan award goes to (drum roll) surprise surprise San Tropez daily!

So we left the evening a little wiser, little fatter and all in all had a brilliant evening! Thanks V&A x
