The bold, the bright and the unique: Xanadu
Before Christmas I went a long the the pop-up vintage shop Xanadu’s opening night, brought to life by ‘Back of the Wardrobe’. Greeted out of the freezing cold with a glass of wine Sarah and Emma were there to welcome and show the wonders the little shop had to offer. This was not like other vintage shops where pretty much it’s a dive and scrabble, it was key finds that the owner (who looked incredible- think 50s rockabilly with dreads) had collected over the years, apparently there’s more gems hidden away. I tried on some gorgeous dresses including a black chiffon vintage Valentino dress- still questioning why I didn’t get it! But I did buy a really pretty emerald green polka dot dress prefect for swing dancing. From beautiful typewriters to first editions of playboy magazine it was a great little shop, and nice to have something south of the river it was also handy having The Back of the Wardrobe girls there to give a helping had with styling tips and how to bring the outfits to life. The shop is based in streatham just opposite the station.
And the Back of the wardrobe girls are around for one off help and also do BOW parties for you and your friends. There’s more info via this link:
